Hey there!
We have four under our belt and number five Is on the way. It’s hard to believe that something that began so modestly has turned into such a major event in just a few short years. We’ve come a long way since our masked up inaugural event, way back during the fall of 2020. We’ve learned a lot, we’ve shared a lot, and we’ve given a lot. A lot to the kids in our program and to our community. The event and the giving haven’t stopped or even slowed down. In 2023, we had to stop registration on July 30th, with 40 young people signed up to take part in the magnificent event.
As you look at our website, I caution you, don’t count the hundreds of smiles, you only grow tired quickly! Please check out our photo gallery, the charities that our event now supports, the increasing number of sponsors that make our event possible, and all the opportunities that you as a sportsman, a club member, or as a business owner, have available to become part of this great event. We have boots on the ground and some of the most creative minds in the area already working behind the scenes to bump this year’s event to another level. _p is where we’re going, all we are missing is U!
The unbelievable support for our event has come from our generous and dedicated club members, from members of our business community, State and Local Government Officials, Super Bowl Champions, and most important of all, from the parents of the children participating in our event and all the peripheral events that have emerged from our inaugural event and grown along with us over the past five years. Every year the Rooster Run gives away three free years dues to thank the members who give what they can to our community and Rooster Run related organizations.
Thanks for stopping by!
Our Goals
The goals for our inaugural event were modest; five years later, they haven’t changed a lot. We wanted to increase our youth participation numbers at the club, we have done that six-fold, and maintain those numbers. To stimulate additional membership involvement and start building the next generation of conservationists. We chose to do that by creating a one-day event that everyone who takes part will never forget, and one that others outside the event will want to become part of moving forward.
Five years later, still growing, still going strong, it looks like we made it! We wanted to close the distance between generations and bring everybody together beneath one roof and give them an opportunity to share knowledge and experiences, to laugh together, to pray together and of course break bread together. The continuation of a hearty potluck lunch seems to be the perfect catalyst. After all, Good Food, Great Friends, and Fun Times are the main ingredients for unforgettable memories.
In addition, we want to provide a safe and successful outdoor education experience that will have a positive impact on the lives of all our young participants as they prepare for adulthood. We want to help create the next generation of ethical hunters, shooters, sportsmen, and sportswomen by helping them discover the outdoor skills, desires and confidence that already exists hidden within themselves.
Nothing is more important to us than providing quality hunting experiences for these youths without the cost of equipment, the lack of experience, or the availability of acreage being a limiting factor. The outdoors belongs to all of us, we are merely Stewards of the land, and sharing the legacy is our way of ensuring the lifestyle survives for the generations that follow. It is our choice, our responsibility, and our commitment.
Do we expect to be paid for our efforts? Absolutely! But understand, the only type of currency we will ever accept from any of our young participants comes in the form of an “ear to ear” smile or a simple “Thank You!” Two gestures that mean more to all of us than any money in the world. No paper tender or precious metal jingle will ever replace them.
